If you're exhibiting at wedding fairs what are your goals, to get more bookings? So how do you convert the people walking through the door into bookings?

Top tips for DJs to get bookings from wedding fairs

Here are some tips if you're planning or thinking about exhibition at a wedding fair.

Do your research

Before booking a space at a wedding fair it's important to do your research. Things to consider are:

Speaking to clients

It's important to speak with couples to explain who you are and what you do. Ideally you should get some details from each couple, even if it's just the basics of their name, venue and date. Even if you don't take their contact details, if they get in contact at a later date you can look back to your list to match them up to know where they first heard of you.

It's always best to get their contact details if you can. This allows you to follow up with the couple afterwards.

Some businesses will offer discounts unique to the wedding fair. This can be a good technique to identify the enquiries to being someone that attended the wedding fair. However, offering discounts you run the risk of undermining your business.

Your stand

Thinking about your stand, what will you have on display? You'll need to stand out from the crowd and be obvious that you're a DJ. Some DJs will take their booth with them although this does take up space on your stand and could limit what else you have available.

What to wear

First impressions count. It's important that you present yourself to appeal to your target audience. It's unlikely that couples would be impressed by a DJ wearing a t-shirt and ripped jeans unless that's the theme they have planned.

Most DJs tend to wear smart polos or suits.

Follow up

For me, this is crucial. If you're not getting the couple's details and following up, you're potentially wasting your time. Yes, they may take a business card and get back to you. But they're busy planning a wedding and will likely have dozens of business cards. What makes you stand out?

Put yourself in front of others and reach out to them. With the wedding fair add-on for DJ Admin, you can have a web form for the couples to complete on your stand that'll capture their details allowing you to follow up.

You can even schedule messages in advance, thanking them for signing up and to follow up afterwards.

What tips would you give to other DJs who are exhibiting at wedding fairs?
