Do you display your prices on your website? It's a debate that crops up regularly with strong views on both sides.

Should you display your DJ prices on your website?

Whether you should display your prices on your website is a topic that many DJs disagree on; there are views both supporting and arguing against displaying prices.

There's no right or wrong answer; the answer for you will depend on several factors.

When you list prices on your website you can put off potential clients who might deem your fees to be too high (maybe even too low?) for them. Some DJs prefer to only reveal their prices once they've spoken with the potential client and there's valid sales sense with this approach. Arguably you could win them around when you speak to them and explain what you offer. This approach also allows you to tailor your quote to their needs.

On the flip side, if you're a DJ charging £500+ and a client who has a budget of £150 sees your fees they will likely move on to the next DJ. So there's a potential to cut out some of the lower value quote requests that will end up just wasting your time.

Some DJs have said that after displaying their fees the number of quote requests dropped yet the number of bookings didn't. Of course, there's always a risk that you could potentially put off clients who think the budget doesn't align when you could win them around.

Is there a middle ground? One approach that could work is to display a range of prices for various packages or services that you offer. This allows you to be more flexible with your prices rather than displaying a fixed fee for all types of events. One way of doing this could be to split the services you offer on to separate web pages, for example putting weddings on one page, school proms on another…etc.

It's important that you are transparent with your prices. If you're charging more for some events than others it could lead to people asking why there are different rates. This is where you need to be clear about the different charges and why they are different.

What are your experiences of displaying your fees on your website?
